Actionetics This feature handles email. You can create messages using their visual builder, either from scratch or a template, and create a behavior-based marketing campaign through “smart action” funnels. The system handles your email lists and can broadcast messages to a social media group or specific location. The package includes tracking metrics with lead scoring and click-to-install autoresponders.

Backpack With this functionality you can manage your own affiliate program. The system has features to handle payments, commissions and affiliate performance ranking.

How it Works

You start by setting up a funnel. You choose your goal and funnel type, and the system creates an entire structure to fill in. The pre-made funnel consists of a series of webpages your future customers will travel through to your goal.

The funnel documents you create are easily integrated into your own domain or website, and there is a plug-in to port your finished pages to a WordPress site.

Each page can be created from scratch, but there are templates to give you a head start. Each section of the page can be customized with the drag-and-drop editor, and CSS can be added too.

You can integrate payments using Stripe, and build upsells right into the page with a few clicks.

Summary

ClickFunnels is a great SAAS tool for simplifying development. The software is maniacally focused on rapidly building effective sales funnels—even if some aspects of the process are shortchanged.

You can build better looking pages, perhaps, but not many that sell as well. No expensive developers or designers are needed to get your ideas up and running, and everything is organized into one central dashboard. There’s a large and lucrative affiliate program too.

The $97/month version of ClickFunnels provides enough for most businesses in terms of building out sales funnels. It’s doubtful that you’ll feel let down in terms of building opt-in, thank you or sales page landing pages. The place where you might feel disappointed, however, is if you need to invest more money to benefit from email marketing tools provided by Actionetics.

The goal of this software is to automate and speed up your development, and it does a good job. Clickfunnels pricing isn’t particularly suitable for smaller entrepreneurs, but that isn’t the software’s niche. You are paying for the convenience, and have to decide where the balance is for your business.

Leadpages (LP) Review

This popular, industry-leading package is great for creating effective marketing pages and websites quickly and easily. You can design and create a page in minutes or a website fast without the need for expensive designers and programmers.

Leadpages is a simple, code-free way to build high-converting landing pages and websites so you can start gathering leads.

Leadpages isn’t a comprehensive solution by any means. It isn’t the most flexible, or most powerful … or even the cheapest. It is, however, one of the easiest ways to quickly build webpages that perform.

Instead of building funnels like inside ClickFunnels, for instance, you merely create individual landing pages and connect them as you see fit for your funnel.

There are a few extras, like the storing and delivery of digital assets, and various analytics and integrations for payment services. You get nice popovers and instant signups to maximize conversion.

The generous affiliate Partner Program is also a factor. The company offers 30% recurring commission for sales you generate through your affiliate links, and pays you through the life of those customers.

You begin building in a clean, straightforward interface. After you select a template and fill it in, the system automatically handles the details. The page’s responses are processed and communicated through emails, text messages and social media platforms. It’s easy to integrate with your ESP (Email Service Provider).

You can build unlimited landing pages and host them on Leadpages servers or another website, and manage them all from one dashboard. With Pro versions, you can get extra functionality to increase conversion with amenities like split testing, clickable popovers, and payment processing.

There are two editors, a legacy version and a newer drag and drop tool. The software hosts your account locally on its servers, which can be restrictive but also means quicker page loading. They don’t meter or charge for your traffic either, so you can grow without facing higher costs.

Summary

Leadpages is an industry-leading builder that keeps things simple. It can be quite tedious to create quality landing pages that convert, and Leadpages makes the process easy and fast. A newer entry in online marketing automation, this software is an eCommerce solution re-engineered for digital entrepreneurs. It’s a new kid that’s been around the block.

Let me start by saying that Kartra is one of the best funnel-building software programs available and stands as a serious ClickFunnels or Leadpages competitor.

One advantage is that Kartra gives you access to its tools regardless of account plan. Higher rates come with more volume, so you can hit the ground running and grow.

The application contains a page builder and the ability to make funnels, but there is more under the hood. Also, the software’s premise differs from most other marketing tools.

A goal-oriented approach

The software promotes a goal-oriented approach to page design … sounds great, but what does it mean?

The application encourages you to build with your end goal in sight. This means thinking backwards from the result you want. Create your Thank You page first, and step backwards from that goal.

This goal-oriented approach helps you focus on the general customer experience. It can eliminate weaknesses in the transaction process, and helps you build long-term relationships beyond your funnel’s limited purpose.

Several tools on one platform

The competent drag-and-drop page builder comes with pre-made templates for various landing pages, opt-in pages, and sales pages. You can order up a pre-fabricated sales funnel designs made by experts, or create your own.

Individual pages can be customized with taglines, videos, order forms and other components. There is more flexibility than with most template systems—Kartra gives you more creative freedom and less hand-holding guidance.

Kartra makes email marketing simple via its pre-made templates and customizable drag-and-drop features when sending broadcasts to subscribers.

The Help Desk and Membership Portal are basic turnkey solutions. You can split-test emails and web pages, and review the results with built-in reporting. There’s a solid support system and an affiliate program too.

This is not to say Kartra is a runaway winner. It’s still growing. Even so, its integrations are good and the templates and training are valuable. The system has many different tools that play well together, and new features have been steadily added.

One simple way of looking at these packages is to consider that Leadpages has a narrower subset of ClickFunnel’s features, and that ClickFunnels is a high-powered subset of Kartra. This isn’t the whole story though, because the quality of features don’t rank this way. The Leadpages builder is actually a bit easier to use than Kartra’s, for example.

To offer a more complete comparison, let’s look at different features across the three packages.

Templates – A selection of templates are available in each package, and you can get good results through application. Integrations – You don’t have much with integration with Leadpages, and though you have more options with ClickFunnels there is less available than with Kartra. You don’t need every third-party tool though, so check current offerings if you have a specific integration in mind.

Support – Each of these packages have multiple support channels and tools to help you learn. Leadpages has been around the longest, but as a specialized builder tool it necessarily has a more narrow range of help options. ClickFunnels benefits from its community, and its direct support is well-regarded if a bit slow. Kartra hasn’t been around as long, but it has an Academy training program free to all users.

Affiliates – All of these platforms have substantial affiliate programs, though ClickFunnels and Leadpages are especially generous. Kartra is playing catch-up here, but it does also include a set of features for managing your own affiliates in-house.

Final Thoughts

If you’re just looking to put together quality, high-converting landing pages (and websites) and deciding between Kartra, ClickFunnels or Leadpages, then Leadpages probably has all you need. You can save yourself time on the learning curve and avoid complications.

If a like-minded community is important to you, there probably isn’t a more dedicated software following than ClickFunnels has inspired. You get enough potential features and outside integration to make it more than a single-use application, but essentially it remains a tool for building high-converting sales funnels quickly and easily…and it makes for a quality Kartra alternative.

Kartra is one to check out if landing pages and sales funnels are not your sole focus. Overall, it has a lot of functionality and a real customer-first attitude.
